About Infrafrontier
The Infrafrontier preparatory phase proposal addresses four major issues that must be resolved in order to reach a European agreement for major upgrade and the joint construction and implementation of the new infrastructure. Critical questions that will be addressed in the preparatory phase concern the overall strategy and governance of the planned infrastructure, the legal structure, sustainable funding and the establishment of common standards among all partners.
The governance model, the proposed legal structure and the financial analysis will allow the elaboration of a business and operational plan. The business plan will then be the reference for drafting and negotiating a memorandum of understanding or treaty that will constitute the legal basis for the infrastructure and conclude the preparatory phase.
To ensure an efficient operation of the new infrastructure during the construction and operation phase and to provide the best possible support and service for the future users a number of technical issues will be addressed during the preparatory phase. Critical is the establishment of common standards for phenotyping, animal welfare, archiving and dissemination among all partners by means of internal training courses and site visits.
