ESFRI roadmap
The European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures (ESFRI) was launched in 2002 with the objective to identify and to address the scientific needs of research infrastructures (RI) in Europe for the next 10-20 years (potential new RI or major upgrade of existing RI). It brings together representatives of EU Member States and Associated States, appointed by ministers in charge of research, and one representative of the European Commission.
ESFRI published its first "European Roadmap on Research Infrastructures" (PDF, 1.8MB) in October 2006. This roadmap identifies research infrastructures of pan-European interest corresponding to the long-term needs of the European research communities, covering all scientific areas. The roadmap is to be updated every two years.
The "Roadmap Working Group Biological and Medical Sciences" (RWG BMS) has evaluated six projects as "mature". Infrafrontier is one of these prioritised projects that have been published in the ESFRI roadmap and could therefore apply for funding in call FP7-INFRASTRUCTURES-2007-1 in the Specific Programme "Capacities" of the Seventh Framework Programme.
As result of the three Expert Groups (Genomics, Bioinformatics and related fields, Clinical and Translational Research, and Biodiversity and the Environment) the BMS RWG published the "Report of the Biology and Medical Science Roadmap Working Group" (PDF, 1.5MB).
