Czech Centre for Phenogenomics BIOCEV c.z.p.o.

Dr. Radislav Sedlacek, Prague, Czech Republic

BIOCEV is a new scientific infrastructure founded as a consortium by 7 academic institutions and the Charles University in Prague and creates a new Czech Center of Excellence in advanced biomedical and biotechnological research. BIOCEV is being built to facilitate scientific progress by combining selected research areas that have been established by the founder institutions. This infrastructure is merging basic research facilities encompassing structural biology, genetics, molecular biology and biotechnology, physiology and functional genomics with core facilities. One of them, the Czech Centre for Phenogenomics (CCP), will concentrate the expertise for mouse phenotyping, archiving, and transgenic services that are now performed by various scientific groups of founder institutions. The open access concept enables broad scientific community to use the expertise of this infrastructure. More than 280 mice mutants including consomic mouse strains have been generated within the constituting institutions of BIOCEV.
