Genetic informationMice deficient for the GAL2-R gene were generated and licensed from Lexicon Genetics. The 5.17-kb gene-trap vector VICTR48 (viral construct for trapping) was inserted within the single intron of the murine Galr2 gene in a 129/SvEvBrd embryonic stem (ES) cell line clone (Zambrowicz et al. 2003). This Omnibank clone (OST105469; http://www.lexicon-genetics.com/discovery/omnibank.html) was used to obtain germ-line transmission of the disrupted Galr2 allele. The mouse line was first backcrossed onto the C57BL/6J background for at least 10 generations (Einstein et al., 2013) and then onto the C57BL/6N background for 4 generations (C57BL/6N genetic background was analyzed by Charles River). The mouse line is maintained on this background.
Phenotypic informationHomozygous:
No phenotypes detected; described phenotypes of founder line: http://www.informatics.jax.org/allele/allgenoviews/MGI:3530476

Heterozygous:
No phenotypes detected.
Breeding historyThe original mouse line (C57BL/6J × 129/SvEvBrd background) was backcrossed onto the C57BL/6J background for at least 10 generations (Einstein et al., 2013) and then backcrossed onto the C57BL/6N background for 4 generations. The mouse line is kept on this background.

Availabilities

Requesting frozen sperm or embryos is generally advisable wherever possible, in order to minimise the shipment of live mice.

  • Frozen sperm. Delivered in 4 weeks (after paperwork in place). €1740*
  • Rederivation of mice from frozen stock, delivery time available upon request . €3880*

Due to the dynamic nature of our processes strain availability may change at short notice. The local repository manager will advise you in these circumstances.

* In addition users have to cover all the shipping costs (including the cost for returning dry-shippers, where applicable).
