Genetic informationThese mice were generated by introducing a lacZ and a neomycin cassette within exon 1 of Panx1. After removal of the neomycin cassette by breeding with cre recombinase–deleter, mice were backcrossed to C57BL/6. Breeding of heterozygous mice yielded Panx1-/- mice at a Mendelian ratio.
