Genetic informationSyGCaMP5-L4 mice are a cre recombinase-dependent, fluorescent, calcium-indicator tool strain. Cross with cre-expressing lines to remove loxP-flanked stop cassette upstream of the fluorescent calcium reporter to induce selective expression in terminals of cre-positive cells.
Phenotypic informationHomozygous:
No phenotype in absence of cre recombinase. Following exposure to cre recombinase, SyGCaMP5 expression is detected in the cre-expressing tissues. Mice homozygous for the conditional allele are viable and fertile.

Heterozygous:
No phenotype in absence of cre recombinase. Following exposure to cre recombinase, SyGCaMP5 expression is detected in the cre-expressing tissues. Mice heterozygous for the conditional allele are viable and fertile.
Breeding historyBred with C57BL/6 mice to produce heterozygous strain, but also het x het pairing tested and homozygous mice are still viable.
