Genetic information | This strain was identified during systematically screening of the mouse genome for autoimmune regulators. The phenotype of this strain is less severe than strains carrying gene knock-out which is embryonic lethal. This strain may assist in the elucidation of the mechanisms of autoimmune disease and T cell development. |
Phenotypic information | The mutant line possesses few naive CD4+ and CD8+ T cells, autoimmunity, 5-fold decrease in double-positive (DP) T cells and significantly fewer CD4+ and CD8+ single-positive (SP) cells, partial block in T cell development at the pre TCR checkpoint, very low expression of CD5 on DP thymocytes, defect in TCR signaling, mutation intrinsic to thymocytes, reduced expression of Slp76, defects in positive selection and reduced negative thymocyte selection, hypergammaglobulinemia and hyper-IgE. |
