Provider affiliationDurham VA Medical Center, NC
Phenotypic informationCongenic for Fas-lpr (Fas, lymphoproliferation) allele (prev. nomenclature: Tnfrsf6, tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily member 6, lpr). Congenic lpr mice and their F1 hybrids have been studied to define the genetics of inflammatory arthritis and glomerulonephritis. The studied lines are the following: MRL-lpr/lpr, C57BL/6-lpr/lpr and their offspring (BM-lpr/lpr and MB-lpr/lpr). The four experimental groups exhibit synovial hypertrophy, inflammation and elevated IgM rheumatoid factor (RF) levels which do not correlate with the presence or severity of arthritis.
