Phenotypic information | Mutant mice deficient in CD40 (TNFRSF5) expression at B-cell surface. Obtained by mutation of the Cd40 gene by homologous recombination (insertion of the neo gene into the third exon) in ES cells of 129 origin. The mutant mice have increased IgM responses but no IgG, IgA and IgE responses to thymus-dependent antigens. IgG and IgM responses to thymus-independent antigens are normal. The germinal center formation is absent in Cd40-deficient mice. |
Breeding history | 129/Ola ES cells; crossed with C57BL/6 then backcrossed to N5. |
