The scope of the Infrafrontier Research Infrastructure (Infrafrontier RI)
The Infrafrontier Research Infrastructure will provide access to scientific platforms, data and services for the systemic phenotyping, archiving and distribution of mouse models, offered by leading facilities from Europe and Canada.

The transnational activities of the Infrafrontier Research Infrastructure will be coordinated by Infrafrontier ERIC. This central coordination unit will offer the following services:
- User acess and allocation of trans-national capacities, by providing a web-based interface to acess all services and data and by evaluating the capacities required by the scientific community and negotiating capacity allocation with the Infrafrontier national partners;
- Grant application and fundraising, by monitoring national and international funding schemes and acting as contractual partner in funding agreements;
- Archiving and distribution of mouse resources, by assessing the requests for the archiving and the distribution of mouse lines and ES cells;
- User access to mouse data, by providing access to databases for phenotyping data and for archived mouse material;
- Standardisation and quality assurance, by evaluating and developing standard operation procedures which will be applicable in bottom-up projects as well as coordinating and negotiating specific standard operation procedures and screening pipelines for top-down projects;
- Promotion of technology development, for phenotyping, archiving and distribution of mouse models;
- Contract and clearance management, by handling all the contractual work required to set up and operate the Infrafrontier RI;
- Networking and outreach, by managing the dissemination of know-how and results created by the research infrastructure;
- Training, by coordinating the training activities for the exchange of knowledge between the partners and users of the Infrafrontier RI;
- Consulting, by providing expertise on required technical engineering and architectural specifications, management of animal husbandry, workflows, data handling and storing as well as research infrastructure management;
- Management of regional branches.
