Sip1 - novel mechanism regulating pain perception

Harmful events can occasionally be life-threatening, but at least noxious for an organism. Therefore the perception of pain is an extremely important function of the body. The transduction of noxious stimuli is warranted through specialized ion channels and receptors expressed by primary nociceptive neurons. The molecular mechanisms regulating the relevant genes and ion channels for pain processing are only poorly understood so far.

Third Infrafrontier Training session on Primary Mouse Phenotyping

This training session will take place at ICS (Strasbourg) from 20 to 23rd February 2012 and is aimed at providing a theoretical and practical background knowledge destined for researchers that are willing to acquire primary expertise in mouse development. Topics will cover dissection of post-implantation embryos, histology, immunohistochemistry and confocal imaging of whole embryos. The materials and techniques required for in vitro culture of postimplantation embryos will be presented.

Please note that the course will be limited to 10 participants

InfraCoMP Grant Agreement signed

The InfraCoMP Grant agreement has been signed between the European Commission and the nine European InfraCoMP partners. InfraCoMP provides a coordination mechanism between Infrafrontier and the International Mouse Phenotyping Consortium (IMPC). Over the next three years the partners will develop common strategies and approaches to mouse phenotyping, mouse production, cryopreservation and distribution, access to phenotyping data and community engagement.

The InfraCoMP consortium is coordinated by HMGU (Germany) and has as partners CERBM-ICS (France), MRC-Harwell and Sanger (UK), TCP (Canada), CNR (Italy), UAB (Spain), IMG (Czech Republic) and EMBL-EBI. The non-European IMPC partners are involved as members of the InfraCoMP International Steering Committee.

Infrafrontier participation in BioMedBridges

Infrafrontier is pleased to announce its participation in the BioMedBridges, an EC-funded project.

BioMedBridges, a consortium formed by 21 partners, is aimed at implementing a common e-infrastructure for the ESFRI BMS research infrastructures to allow interoperability of data and services. More specifically, this project will deliver solutions for data harmonisation, technical integration of services and secure access to data and specific use cases will be developed around these topics.

Infrafrontier will lead the specific use case 'Phenobridge: crossing the species bridge between mouse and human'.
