Genetic information | The BAC clone 407K8 from the mouse C57BL/6 BAC library RPCI-23 (Research Genetics Inc., Huntsville, AL) containing the GAD2 (GAD65) gene was modified by inserting the tdTomato-ORF after the endogenous start signal. The modified BAC-GAD65-tdTomato construct was integrated into an unknown locus of C57BL/6 mice. |
Phenotypic information | Homozygous:Transgenic mice express tdTomato in 80-90% of GABAergic, GAD65-positive cells. Fluorescent signals were observed in the olfactory bulb, striatum, cortex, hippocampus, cerebellum, brainstem and spinal cord as well as retinal ganglion and amacrine cells.Heterozygous:Should be same as for the homozygous animals. However, mouse producer does only test for presence of transgene and not for zygosity. |
Breeding history | Transgenic founder mice were originally bred to C57BL/6JOlaHsd mice. Later mice were bred to mice from the transgenic line itself. Mice were bred for about 6 generations so far. |
