Research Resource Identifiers (RRID) are persistent unique ID numbers assigned to help researchers cite key resources (e.g. antibodies, model organisms and software projects) in the biomedical literature to improve transparency and reproducibility in research. See https://www.rrids.org/ for more information.

Information from provider

ProviderColin J Sanderson
Provider affiliationNational Institute for Medical Research
Genetic informationCBA-TgN(IL5)1Glx mice have been engineered to over-express IL-5 in their T-cells using a genomic fragment containing Il5, coupled to the locus control region (LCR) from the CD2 T-cell surface antigen gene. The LCR region ensures constitutive expression of IL-5 from all T-cells.
Phenotypic informationThe IL-5 mice are macroscopically normal apart from an enlarged spleen which contains numerous eosinophils at various stages of differentiation. Heterozygous mice have about 8 copies of the Il5 transgene and show a life-long blood and tissue eosinophilia. Homozygous mice have higher numbers of eosinophils than heterozygotes but are difficult to breed.
Breeding historyThe line has been maintained for many generations on a C57BL/6J background.
