| Genetic information | Thy1a (or Thy1.1) is a natural variant of the Thy gene. The Thy1a allele determines an antigenic specificity (Thy-1.1), found in the AKR and RF strains. This natural variant has been selected on a BALB/c background and mice were bred to obtain a line homozygous for Thy1a. These BALB/c-Thy1a homozygous mice have then been backcrossed to DBA/1OlaHsd for more than 10 generations, to obtain a congenic strain. |
| Phenotypic information | Homozygous:No specific mouse phenotype. The Thy1 allele determines an antigenic specificity, Thy-1.1, found in the AKR and RF strains.Heterozygous:No specific phenotype |
| Breeding history | The Thy1a allele has been selected on a BALB/c background and mice were bred to obtain a line homozygous for Thy1a. These BALB/c-Thy1a homozygous mice have been backcrossed to DBA/1OlaHsd for more than 10 generations, to obtain a congenic strain. |
