| Gene/Transgene symbol | Marco |
Information from provider
| Provider | Karl Tryggvason |
| Provider affiliation | Duke-NUS Medical School |
| Additional owner | Prof. Siamon Gordon, Department of Pathology, University of Oxford, United Kingdom |
| Genetic information | Marco gene was deleted by homologous recombination. |
| Phenotypic information | Homozygous:Lack the MARCO protein in selected macrophage populations. Defective spleen marginal zone architecture. Unable to induce T independent antigen response. Susceptible to variety of bacterial fungal and viral infection.Heterozygous:Same as wild-type. |
| Breeding history | Marco knock-out mice were backcrossed to C57BL/6J line for 10 generations and the established homozygous line has been maintained as brother x sister mate within Univ. of Oxford facility. They breed just as good as the background strain with average litter sizes of 5/7 pups and the health status has remained consistent for many years. |
