| Phenotypic information | Curly whiskers/absent at birth. Sporadic lack of fur growth which varies from almost zero to sparse fur. Some growth retardation from birth and mutant offspring are smaller at weaning. Heterozygotes and homozygotes not easily distinguishable - limited breeding data suggest that homozygotes are smaller. Homozygotes viable and fertile. On outcrossing, Shby/Shby2H, Shby/+ and Shby2H/+ offspring could not be distinguished. Allelism tests with Shby gave 0/49 recombinants showing that Shby2H is allelic with Shby. Linkage cross with T gave 6/57 recombinants (10.5 cM), i.e. very similar to T-Shby (10.8 cM). |
