Genetic informationTransgenic mice carrying 1 copy of the 250 kb YAC YRT2deltaAB derived from YAC YRT2 after removing box A and box B elements (Giraldo et al. Nucleic Acids Res. 2003; 31, 6290-6305), by homologous recombination of YRT2 YAC (Montoliu et al. 1996; EMBO J 15:6026-34). Mice were generated in the albino outbred WinHsd:NMRI background whose albino phenotype was partially rescued by the YAC YRT2deltaAB transgene, thereby becoming pigmented (dark grey, no variegation observed) and eye pigmented. The YAC YRT2deltaAB is derived from a YAC library made from C3H mouse genomic DNA.
Phenotypic informationDark grey, uniform, black eyes. Transgenic mice YRT2deltaAB in the NMRI background have pigmented eyes and dark grey skin pigmentation, with no variegation observed in coat and retina.
Breeding historyTransgenic mice YRT2deltaAB were generated by pronuclear microinjection using fertilised albino outbred NMRI oocytes and have been maintained as hemizygous since then in the same background.
