Research Resource Identifiers (RRID) are persistent unique ID numbers assigned to help researchers cite key resources (e.g. antibodies, model organisms and software projects) in the biomedical literature to improve transparency and reproducibility in research. See https://www.rrids.org/ for more information.

Information from provider

ProviderKarin Forsberg Nilsson
Provider affiliationDept of Genetics and Pathology, Uppsala University
Genetic informationpTG8-nes/tk-Pdgfb-lacZ: The mice express 0.7 kb human PDGF-B cDNA under control of the nestin 2nd intron minimal enhancer for expression in embryonic neural stem cells and the TK promoter; IRES sequences link PDGF-B to lacZ.
Phenotypic informationThe NES/TK-PDGFB-lacZ mice are viable and fertile. In the developing brain, mice showed increased apoptosis in the developing striatum, which suggests a disturbed regulation of progenitor cells. Later in neurodevelopment, in early postnatal life, mice displayed enlarged lateral ventricles. This enlargement remained into adulthood and it was more pronounced in male mice than in transgenic female mice. Adult transgenic males showed behavioral aberrations and locomotor dysfunction. The retina is not analyzed in this strain.
Breeding historyMade in C57BL/6N oocytes and kept on C57BL/6N.

Availabilities

Requesting frozen sperm or embryos is generally advisable wherever possible, in order to minimise the shipment of live mice.

  • Frozen embryos. Delivered in 4 weeks (after paperwork in place). €1740*
  • Rederivation of mice from frozen stock, delivery time available upon request . €3880*

Due to the dynamic nature of our processes strain availability may change at short notice. The local repository manager will advise you in these circumstances.

* In addition users have to cover all the shipping costs (including the cost for returning dry-shippers, where applicable).
