| Allele/Transgene symbol | Mlanatm1.2Bee |
| Gene/Transgene symbol | Mlana |
Information from provider
| Provider | Friedrich Beermann |
| Provider affiliation | EPFL SV ISREC |
| Genetic information | Mlana/Mart-1 were deleted (in vivo) by constitutive (germline) deletion of exon 2 (containing ATG) and exon 3 from loxP sites placed in the respective introns. DNA, RNA and protein of the deleted region (and of the whole protein) were not detected in homozygous Mlana-mutant mice |
| Phenotypic information | Mice with homozygous deletion of Mlana are viable, and not reduced in fertility and physiology. These mice display a pigmentation phenotype, with slightly lighter fur. Biochemical and electron microscopy suggest a modification of melanosome structure |
| Breeding history | Strain was backcrossed at least 3-4 times to C57BL/6N, and kept as heterozygous for ease of backcrossing. To produce mutant mice for shipment, we have interbred heterozygous mutant mice. |
