Research Resource Identifiers (RRID) are persistent unique ID numbers assigned to help researchers cite key resources (e.g. antibodies, model organisms and software projects) in the biomedical literature to improve transparency and reproducibility in research. See https://www.rrids.org/ for more information.

Genetic informationExon 2, encoding amino acid residues 43-168, was replaced by a neomycin cassette. No protein was detected in Western blots of lysates derived from tissues of 3-month old homozygous mutant mice.
Phenotypic informationHomozygous:
Mice lacking Cdkn2c (P18INK4c) have deregulated epithelial cell growth leading to the formation of cysts, mostly in the cortical region of the kidneys and the mammary epithelium. Loss of P18INK4c also leads to lymphoproliferative disorders. In addition to pituitary tumors, we have observed the appearance of tumors of testicular and adrenal gland (pheochromocytomas) origin in a significant fraction of P18INK4c (-/-) mice. Less frequently, these animals also develop tumors of lymphoid, connective and epithelial cell origin.

Heterozygous:
heterozygous mice are viable
Breeding historyChimeras were bred with C57BL/6J females. Heterozygous mice were bred among themselves to generate homozygous mice or to C57BL/6J animals to propagate the targeted allele. Mice were bred for more than 10 generations with C57BL/6J mice before freezing.

Availabilities

Requesting frozen sperm or embryos is generally advisable wherever possible, in order to minimise the shipment of live mice.

  • Frozen embryos. Delivered in 4 weeks (after paperwork in place). €1740*

Due to the dynamic nature of our processes strain availability may change at short notice. The local repository manager will advise you in these circumstances.

* In addition users have to cover all the shipping costs (including the cost for returning dry-shippers, where applicable).
