| Genetic information | The ES cells derived from 129S6/SvEvTac mouse strain were electroporated with a vector containing the neo and TK cassettes for selection, and loxP1 sites that were used to cut out the neo cassette together with exon 9 and partially exon 10. The cloned ES cells were transferred to C57BL/6J blastocysts. |
| Phenotypic information | Sp140 is strongly expressed in B cells. We anticipated the knock-out to have an effect on the levels of different immunoglobulin classes, but the antibody production was unaltered. Also, we tested the avidity of ovalbumin-specific antibodies, but no changes could be determined. B cell population numbers and proportions were normal. The animals are fertile and age normally. |
| Breeding history | The strain has not been backcrossed. The mice have been inbred for five generations. |
