PRIM-TECH3R Industry Liaison Event launches dialogue between research infrastructures and industry

July 2, 2026

The PRIM-TECH3R Industry Liaison Event, held on 22 June in Rome, successfully brought together representatives from research infrastructures and industry stakehloders to explore the future of complex in vitro models (CIVMs) in preclinical research. Organised as the first dedicated industry engagement event of the PRIM-TECH3R project, the meeting marked an important step towards strengthening collaboration between technology developers and end users.

Designed as an interactive exchange rather than a traditional conference, the event introduced participants to PRIM-TECH3R’s vision of advancing next-generation in vitro models while creating a platform for open discussion on industry needs, technical challenges and future collaboration opportunities.

Throughout the programme, project partners presented demonstrator models and emerging technologies, showcasing how advanced in vitro systems can contribute to more predictive and human-relevant preclinical research. Discussions also addressed practical considerations surrounding adoption, including scalability, validation, regulatory acceptance and integration into existing research workflows.

A central feature of the meeting was a series of moderated roundtable discussions that encouraged direct dialogue between industry representatives and the PRIM-TECH3R consortium. These conversations provided valuable feedback on current challenges faced by end users while helping identify priorities for future technology development and service provision.

The event also laid the foundations for continued engagement with industry as PRIM-TECH3R prepares future opportunities for collaboration, including forthcoming Open Calls designed to support industrial participation in the project.

Held immediately before the INFRAFRONTIER Conference 2026, the Industry Liaison Event complemented the broader scientific discussions taking place throughout the week by highlighting the importance of translating innovative research into practical applications. Together, the two meetings demonstrated the value of connecting research infrastructures, academia and industry to accelerate the development of next-generation biomedical technologies.

As PRIM-TECH3R continues to advance complex in vitro models across Europe, this inaugural Industry Liaison Event represents the beginning of an ongoing dialogue aimed at ensuring these technologies evolve in close partnership with the communities that will ultimately apply them in research and innovation.
