Trans-national Access Call – Specialised phenotyping: Mutant mice under inflammatory disease conditions

January 29, 2020

In the INFRAFRONTIER2020 specialised phenotyping program, INFRAFRONTIER partner institutions offer the indepth characterisation of mouse mutants for interested biomedical researchers all around the globe. The call is free of charge for the user, concerning scientific service and expertise.

In this TA call, the Greek INFRAFRONTIER partner Biomedcode is accepting proposals that aim to uncover the role of a specific gene of interest under inflammatory conditions. The Athens-based institute provides access to a comprehensive panel of phenotyping tests, relying on standardized and customized protocols in a wide range of therapeutic areas. Biomedcode will perform phenotypic analysis of mutant mice based on their response to one acute inflammation and one inflammatory disease model.

Acute Models of Inflammation

This model will serve for the evaluation of the involvement of the gene of interest in inflammatory mechanisms through assessment of its effect on pro-inflammatory cytokine levels and/or inflammatory cell recruitment.

Offered acute models include:

· Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) Induced Cytokine cascade

· Zymosan Induced cell recruitment

· Thioglucolate Induced cell recruitment

Induced Disease Models

This model will serve for the evaluation of the involvement of the gene of interest in a disease setting, assessing its effect in disease development and progression at the clinical and histopathological level. Offered disease models include:

· Collagen Antibody induced arthritis (CAIA) (*Arthritomab must be provided by the interested party),

· TNBS-colitis

· IMQ-induced psoriasis

· MOG-induced Experimental Autoimmune Encephalomyelitis.

In this call, three proposals that fulfill the requirements set in the application form will be selected and projects will be processed free of charge for the user.

The applicant only has to bear the costs for the transfer of mice and materials.

How to apply

In the application form, all access modalities are described in detail. Also Biomedcode, the INFRAFRONTIER partner providing the service, is introduced there to the applicants.

Please send formal proposals with completed application form to.

Timing

The call has a rolling deadline. Applications will be collected at the beginning of every month and then evaluated.

The call will be closed as soon as three proposals will have been selected. Deadline for incoming applications is 30 April 2020.

Our recommendation: Send in your proposal as soon as possible!
