Genetic informationThe YZ8 line (single copy transgene) contains an additional 130 kb genomic region from mouse distal chromosome 7 spanning from Igf2 to ~40 kb downstream of H19. Igf2 has been inactivated by insertional mutagenesis resulting in an Igf2-LacZ gene fusion. LacZ activity shows spatial expression of Igf2 in a subset of tissues. The imprinted H19 gene is only expressed when transmitted through the maternal germline. After paternal transmission the gene is repressed. The Igf2-LacZ gene shows appropriate reciprocal imprinted behaviour (paternal allele specific expression, maternal repression).
Phenotypic informationThe line has not been kept homozygous due to reduced fertility.
Breeding historyBrother sister matings with sporadic backcrossing to C57BL/6.
