Research Resource Identifiers (RRID) are persistent unique ID numbers assigned to help researchers cite key resources (e.g. antibodies, model organisms and software projects) in the biomedical literature to improve transparency and reproducibility in research. See https://www.rrids.org/ for more information.

Information from provider

ProviderRolf Sprengel
Provider affiliationWorking Group Molecular Neurobiology, Max Planck Institute for Medical Research
Genetic informationTetracycline-controlled transgene for the SHANK2A overexpression. The transgene contains a bidirectional tTA-dependent expression cassette which encodes on one site the nuclear localized beta-galactosidase and on the other side the Venus (green fluorescent protein variant) reporter-T2A ribosomal skipping sequence-SHANK2A fusion. The sequence origin for SHANK2A is human.
Phenotypic informationHomozygous:
unknown

Heterozygous:
No phenotype in absence of the transcriptional activator TA. Upon crossing with TgCam2a-tTA mice, the TgSHANK2A/tTA double-transgenic animals develop an autism spectrum disorder-like phenotype, have a reduced body weight and about 25% show a premature death.
Breeding historyThe line was generated in November 2013 and intercrossed routinely with TgCam2A-tTA mice (B6;CBA-Tg(Camk2a-tTA)1Mmay/J; Stock No: 003010). Double transgenic mice were never used for matings. Heterozygous TgSHANK2A mice were used together with C57BL/6 mice to keep the line.
