International strain nameB6;129-Bcar1floxed/Cnrm
Alternative namebcar1 floxed
Strain typeTargeted Mutant Strains : Conditional mutation
Allele/Transgene symbolBcar1flox
Gene/Transgene symbolBcar1

Information from provider

ProviderSara Cabodi
Provider affiliationUniversity of Torino
Genetic informationFloxed mice for the Bcar1 gene were generated by ES recombination with a construct carrying loxP sites flanking exon 5 and 6 of Bcar1 gene and the neomycin cassette, as reported in Camacho Leal MDP et al., 2018 (https://doi.org/10.1186/s12964-018-0289-z). The selection cassette was removed by crossing the mice with a flipper (FLPe) strain. When cre recombinase is present the excision results in a frame shift that terminates protein synthesis thus generating a complete knock-out allele.
Phenotypic informationHomozygous:
No gross phenotype present. Mice are viable and fertile and pups born at the expected Mendelian ratio.

Heterozygous:
No gross phenotype present. Mice are viable and fertile and pups born at the expected Mendelian ratio.
Breeding historyBcar1 floxed mice currently maintained on a mixed 129 and C57BL/6J background.
