Genetic informationAlpha-MHC promoter was cloned upstream the Myc-tagged human melusin (integrin beta 1 binding protein 2, ITGB1BP2) cDNA followed by beta-globin intron and poly-A. The DNA construct was microinjected in FVB fertilized eggs and transgenic integration was confirmed by Southern blot.
Phenotypic informationHomozygous:
Mice overexpressing melusin in the heart exhibited prolonged concentric compensatory hypertrophy and were protected against the transition to cardiac dilation and failure in response to long-standing pressure overload.

Heterozygous:
We used mainly homozygous mice for phenotype studies.
Breeding historyHeterozygous mice were bred to produce homozygous offspring carrying the construct on both alleles.
