| Genetic information | In the first exon of the Cpa3 gene, the 28 nucleotides coding for the first 9 amino acids were replaced with a codon-improved cre recombinase (icre) expression cassette and an FRT-flanked neomycin selection cassette. The cre recombinase expression cassette consists of a splice donor, intron, and splice acceptor from rabbit beta-globin, and the codon-improved cre sequence (Shimshek et al., Genesis. 2002; doi:10.1002/gene.10023), followed by the rabbit beta-globin polyadenylation site. Transient expression of flp recombinase in a clone of correctly targeted ES cells removed the selection cassette. br bPlease note:/b According to the information provided by the depositor and the submitted material, this strain shares the same targeted allele as the related EMMA strain (EM:16833) but differs in genetic background. The strains can be visually distinguished by their coat colour. Where the distinction between the strains is relevant for experimental use, recipients are advised to confirm the genetic background using appropriate strain-specific genetic markers (e.g. SNP analysis). |
