Genetic information | Gltp gene was conditionally targeted by insertion of a reporter-tagged cassette containing lacZ, neomycin resistance, Frt and LoxP sequences. Exon 2 was targeted by homologous recombination and electroporation of the targeting construct into C57BL/6N ES cells. The targeting resulted in a so called "knockout-first allele". LacZ and neomycin cassettes together are flanked by Frt sites; neomycin cassette and targeted exon2 are flanked by LoxP sites. |
Phenotypic information | Homozygous:Not known, until now mice were bred on heterozygous basis only.Heterozygous:Heterozygous mice show no obvious phenotype and appear normal. |
Breeding history | Chimeric founder mice were generated by injection of C57BL/6N ES cells into C57BL/6J albino (B6(Cg)-Tyrc-2J/J) embryos. Chimeras were bred to C57BL/6N partner to test for germ-line transmission. |
