Genetic informationMice defective in IL-2Rb expression were generated by insertion of neomycin resistance cassette into Il2rb gene at exon 6 which encodes a region of the extracellular domain proximal to the transmembrane region.
Phenotypic informationHomozygous mice are smaller, have abnormal hair, slow movement and poorly developed external genitals. Death occurs at 12 weeks of age. T cells are spontaneously activated causing exhaustive differentiation of B cells into plasma cells and high serum concentrations of IgG1 and IgE, as well as autoantibodies that cause hemolytic anemia.
Breeding history10 backcrosses to C57BL/6.
