The animal BSL-3 laboratory at the Czech Centre for Phenogenomics (CCP) specialises in infectious disease research using animal models. CCP conducts studies on viral, bacterial, protozoal, and other diseases in both generic and transgenic rodents, ensuring strict safety and quality control. Supported by various modules and experts, they design, perform, and evaluate disease severity and progression, therapeutic efficacy, and vaccination studies. Additionally, CCP conducts common follow-up in vitro evaluations. Their services include both short and long-term experiments, focusing on coherent and reproducible results. Their expertise extends to various areas related to animal biochemistry, pathology, immunology, and other fields, allowing for comprehensive collaboration at the centre.
CCP provides robust and comprehensive solutions for testing and experimentation. Their services include complete administrative support, such as obtaining licenses for animal testing, GMO compliance, and working with infectious biological substances. They handle the acquisition, husbandry, and breeding of animals, including the design and husbandry of tailored transgenic animals. CCP offers testing of various in vitro and in vivo modalities, including lung function, cardiography, hematoanalysis, and can implement new services based on the requestor’s needs. In collaboration with other units, CCP provides follow-up tests, such as immunology panels for infected animals, metabolic and biochemical markers, and subsequent histopathological analysis. Additionally, they offer comprehensive biostatistical support, including data evaluation, graphical and factual analysis, and the production of a detailed methodology and report at the end of the experiment.
Available upon individual requests, CCP can expand their basic services to include designing and developing transgenic models for studying particular infectious diseases. This involves model verification, securing a source of the pathogen, and establishing the infectious model. They also offer new approaches to studying animal physiology and provide access to state-of-the-art equipment and experts to design and conduct complex studies. At the Czech Centre for Phenogenomics, they follow several GLP-certified procedures essential for preclinical research and certified therapeutic testing.
