Now that genetic engineering of mice is so easy, centralized repositories are essential, argue Kent Lloyd and colleagues.
Repositories keep mouse models safe, secure and available for withdrawal. They add scientific value and utility to deposited mouse lines: Mouse repositories increase reliability through curation, preservation, genetic quality control and protection from pathogens.
