Genetic informationMouse model carrying the Rbmxl2 gene flanked by loxP sites to enable cre recombinase-induced knockdown. A targeting construct in which the Rbmxl2 open reading frame was flanked by loxP sites, was made using standard molecular biology techniques, and electroporated into 129 ES cells. Positive clones were injected into blastocysts to create chimaeras and bred to yield agouti pups heterozygous for the targeted locus. The original mice containing the neomycin gene were crossed with FLP-expressing mice to remove the neo gene and to generate the Rbmxl2 loxP conditional allele. Crossing with a cre recombinase-expressing mouse is required for knockdown.
Phenotypic informationHomozygous:
No overt phenotype for homozygous mice, as gene is functional prior to cre-mediated recombination. Following cre recombination male mice are infertile.

Heterozygous:
No overt phenotype for heterozygous mice, as gene is functional prior to cre-mediated recombination. Following cre recombination male fertility is compromised.
Breeding historyBackcrossed onto C57BL/6J for at least 8 generations.
