Gene/Transgene symbolTnf

Information from provider

ProviderGeorge Kollias
Provider affiliationB.S.R.C.
Genetic informationA 69 bp deletion encompassing the Tnf AU-rich elements (ARE) was targeted in ES cells together with the neomycin resistance marker (neo) flanked by loxP sequences. Transient expression of cre recombinase in fertilized oocytes from these mice resulted in the excision of the neo gene and the generation of TNFdeltaARE mouse lines.
Phenotypic informationThis strain carries a mutation on the Tnf, lacking the ARE element. It models human pathologies such as chronic inflammatory arthritis (OMIM ID:180300) and Crohn's-like chronic inflammatory bowel disease (OMIM ID:266600).
